This Privacy Policy explains the information otorae handles, how it is used, and the choices available to you.
Information we handle
- Account information: your email address and information needed to create, verify, and secure your account.
- Profile information: your username, display name, avatar, and public profile.
- Journal and social activity: reviews, scores, Want to Listen entries, Favorite Artists, follows, blocks, and related music information.
- Safety and support: reports, moderation records, and messages you send to support.
Who can see your information
User profiles are not publicly browsable on the web. Other signed-in otorae users may see your username, display name, avatar, public profile, public reviews and scores, Want to Listen entries, Favorite Artists, and follower and following information.
Your email address, authentication information, private journal data, block list, reports, and information stored only on your device are not shown on your public profile.
How information is used
We use information to operate accounts, display and sync journal and social features, retrieve music information, respond to support requests, protect users, review reports, enforce our rules, and maintain the service. Service providers may process information as needed to host and operate these functions.
Apple music services
otorae uses Apple services to provide music, album, artist, and artwork information. When you search, necessary information such as your search terms may be sent to Apple. Apple handles that information under its own terms and privacy practices.
otorae is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or approved by Apple, any record label, or any artist.
Photos and information on your device
Photo access is used only to choose a profile avatar or save an AOTY share image. otorae does not request access to your camera, microphone, location, or contacts.
Some journal data and account information may be stored locally for the app to work. Recent search history is stored only on your device and is not stored by otorae online.
Advertising and tracking
otorae does not show targeted advertising or track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
Safety and moderation
Reports and related information may be used to investigate concerns, prevent abuse, enforce our rules, and handle disputes. Some clearly inappropriate content may be restricted before posting, and reports may be reviewed manually.
Account deletion
You can delete your account in the app through Settings → Danger Zone → Delete Account. This removes your account and its main profile, review, and social data. See Account Deletion for details.
Certain safety, abuse-prevention, or legal records, such as reports, may be retained where required or permitted by law and only for as long as reasonably necessary for those purposes. Local copies on other devices may not be removed automatically.
